Smythsons – New Bond Street
A fast track refurbishment of a top West End store. The first phase was undertaken while the store was still trading. All existing fixtures and fittings were removed and large openings formed in several of the existing walls. New AC supplies were installed, with the main supplies rising from the basement to supply the shop floor from beneath the new bespoke joinery units. The shop also added aluminium shop fronts.
Much of the structure was listed, and sensitive restoration was undertaken to ensure continuity with existing features. Cornices, mouldings, architraves and other fixtures and fittings were all reproduced to match the originals where necessary. The shop floor was finished in a prime grade oak flooring, laid around large matwells in the rear rooms, with two contrasting marble slabs laid in a chevron pattern at the front of house.
The BOH areas have been refurbished and the landlord’s WC at 1st floor level has been fully refurbished including new tiling throughout. New plant has been installed to the rear room area which due to access restrictions had to be broken down and handled into position.
